Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Thursday chased away four freshly deployed bodyguards from his home in Nyali, Mombasa.

The officers had been deployed to guard his home but Joho kicked them out and locked his gate.

However, the Governor’s spokesman Richard Chacha said that the guards had been deployed to the wrong house. He added that the governor had already hired a new team of guards for his new home.

The guards were seen standing at the gate before they sat down, evidently stranded.

In a quick rejoinder, the government through spokesman Eric Kiraithe said that they might withdraw Joho’s security detail altogether.

“If a VIP does not want to be protected, we cannot force it. So the government might consider redeploying the officers to protect Kenyans who are in dire need of security,” he said.
