Popular Gikuyu singer Kamande wa Kioi is reportdely admitted at the Intensive Care Unit in a city hospital.

This is according to a message relayed by Royal Media’s Muturi wa Muiru. According to a post made by the radio presenter, Kamande wa Kioi is in a coma at the ICU section of Nairobi West Hospital.

However, it has not been immediately established what the singer is ailing from. Muturi made the post in a plea to his fans to pray for the singer whose health has deteriorated.

Kamande first burst into the Kikuyu music scene in 2002 with his first hit ‘Parapara’. He is however popular for his second hit ‘Pusi’. His style of music has been widely associated with comedy.

In 2013, though, he and fellow Kikuyu music maestro John Demathew were charged in court for composing songs that were deemed as bordering on hate speech.
