Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu is at the centre of another fear-mongering storm. This is after the MP declared that Kikuyu men will be forced to wear shorts if Raila Odinga wins the upcoming general elections.

While speaking in Kikuyu township, the MP further said that people from Central Kenya whose native language is Gikuyu will sneeze using their elbows, an euphemism meaning that life will be extremely difficult for them as a Raila presidency will no longer allow them to thrive.

According to The Star newspaper, Mr. Waititu was speaking at the funeral of African Independent Pentecostal Church of Kenya head Archbishop John Mugecha.

Culturally, Kikuyu men do not wear shorts as it is considered demeaning. Shorts are perceived as clothing for young boys.

Waititu added that the only way Kikuyus can avoid this is by registering and voting in large numbers in favour of the current president Uhuru Kenyatta.
