A storm erupted in Murang’a County on Wednesday morning after Jubilee candidates in the area clashed with independent candidates over who should attend a meeting organized by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Blue Post Hotel.

Irungu Kang’ata protesting

Led by Murang’a Jubilee Senatorial candidate Irungu Kang’ata, the Jubilee candidates demanded that the independents leave since President Uhuru’s visit was a Jubilee affair and not a campaign tour for the independents.

He wanted independent candidates barred from President Uhuru’s meeting.

The meeting had attracted independent candidates whom the Jubilee side said wasn’t invited.

The protests were at the Blue Post hotel.

A bitter exchange ensued prompting the police to intervene.

The protests were led by Murang’a Jubilee Senatorial candidate Irungu Kang’ata.

Irungu Kang’ata will be facing off with Kembi Gitaru who lost in the nominations.
