Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has said that Cord leaders will not be able to beat President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2017 General Elections. Mr. Abdullahi said this while speaking on the Jeff Koinange talk show on KTN on Wednesday night. The talk show is popularly known as JKL.

“Raila will not be able to beat Uhuru in 2017 and neither would Kalonzo. Wetangula is a none-starter,” he said. “It would take a rally exceptional candidate to unseat Uhuru. He has the incumbency advantage and the resources to run a successful campaign.”

The outspoken lawyer further said that he regarded Deputy President William Ruto as the key force in the Jubilee government. “He is hungrier for power and success, is a strategist ad schemer and if the Jubilee coalition holds, he will be the front-runner in the 2022 general elections,” he said.

During the talk show, Mr. Abdullahi highlighted the judiciary and the criminal investigations department (CID) as the two cancers ailing the country. “We must get the selection of chief justice and deputy chief justice correctly, and we must put an end to the death squads and incompetence of the CID,” he said, adding that he couldn’t see how the CID currently led by Ndegwa Muhoro will be able to resolve the killing of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josphat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.
