A woman has sued Deputy President William Ruto for child neglect.
According to local daily, The Star, the woman identified as Prisca Chemutai claims that although she has child whose biological father is Mr. Ruto, the Deputy President has refused to provide support for the child.
Through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, the woman claims that she met DP Ruto in 2005 while studying at Moi University.
A year later, on March 6, 2006, she had DP Ruto’s child who was born at MediHeal Hospital.
She said in court filings at Milimani law courts on Thursday: “The respondent has failed to provide the minor with adequate and basic necessities such as good health, food, school fees, clothing, shelter and medication… The defendant has eschewed and neglected his parental responsibility as demanded of him under the constitution of Kenya.”
It could not however be immediately established whether the woman’s claims are factual or not.
