Some men are kind, dependable, faithful and make great husbands. But then there’s the bad guys. Hugely masculine and enormously attractive — but don’t ever think of marrying one.
Because they’re also self-centred, manipulative, deceitful, unfaithful, domineering and have seriously bad attitudes towards women.
Who of course do know that — brain scans show that all the areas associated with risk and danger light up whenever women look at highly masculine men. But bad’s sexy. Spontaneous. Passionate and exciting. And so bad guys never lack for a partner.
Irresistible
But what is it that makes them so irresistible? What have they got that presses all the right buttons?
Well, for a start they’re always tall and muscular — a real turn on for a woman on the prowl. They’re also supremely confident.
And women looking for a fling don’t like modesty, anxiety or weakness in a man. They’re turned on by strength, ambition, emotional stability and resilience.
And bad guys never slouch. They take up a lot of space and everything about them shouts high status and cool. They’re always calm and don’t move much. They rarely nod, never fidget or fiddle with their clothes, hair or face.
They rarely smile, have fearless eye contact and don’t gush over girls or show their feelings.
A bad guy’s voice is deeper than average. He pauses before speaking and lowers the tone of his voice at the end of sentences. His speech is slow, deliberate and very memorable. There are no “ums” or “ers”, and he never rambles on.
Instead he’s always warm, focused, and genuinely interested in his partner. And he never just agrees or disagrees with her. Instead he accepts her contributions and redirects them slightly – building a nice balance of wit and tension into the conversation.
He drinks — and chooses women who drink. Because liking alcohol, and especially the taste of beer, is a strong indication that a woman enjoys sex — and might be up for it on a first date.
And he knows what women want. So even though they’re manipulative, arrogant and calculating, the bad guys definitely get more of the action.
While modest Mr Nice Guy loses out. Because for a one night stand, women go for physical attractiveness and dominance. And a posh car. And a guy who throws his money around. And who has a brilliant sense of humour — in fact, believe it or not, you can even predict how many women a man has slept with by how good his jokes are!
So do you want to attract a bad guy? There’s a recipe for that too! Smile, wear red, have a feminine voice, don’t be too tall, wear great make up and a wonderful bra. Drink of course. And appear modest, innocent and submissive!
And you’ll certainly have lots of fun – to begin with. Because bad guys are charming, full of depth, excitement and passion. But it won’t be long before he’s treating you like dirt.
