The High Court on Monday allowed an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to have three police officers who are suspected of killing lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josphat Mwenda and a taxi driver Joseph Muiruri detained.
The DPP told Senior Magistrate Anniel Ogembo that autopsies on the three bodies are yet to be done and police conducting the investigations have not recorded statements from all witnesses.
The three police officers who have been identified as Fredrick ole Leliman, Stephen Cheburet Morogo and Silvia Wanjiku Morogo will be detained for 14 days. The case will now be mentioned on July 18.
Elsewhere in Nairobi, hundreds too to the streets to condemn the killing of the three by police officers.
The protests were led by civil society activists and lawyers.
