Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen will now carry the Jubilee flag in the August senatorial elections against former inspector general of police David Kimeiyo who is running under a KANU ticket.

Murkomen beat his closest rival John Kangogo in the Tuesday Jubilee primaries.

He garnered 83,875 against Kangogo’s paltry 12883 votes.

“I would like to thank the people who believed in me, my family, Marakwet residents, my party, friends and even competitors who gave a good fight,” Murkomen said on Tuesday.

“Before going national, I take this opportunity to say that i will serve the interests of you my people as well as of our party to ensure that we win the next phase.”

He becomes the the second senator to successfully secure a party ticket in the ongoing primaries after Homa Bay county senator Moses K’Ajwang.K’Ajwang’ got a resounding win earlier today.
